About Us.

Mizani Ball is a Filmmaker, Producer, and Event Planner. She has a strong background in journalism and digital media, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and a minor in Entrepreneurship from Xavier University of Louisiana.

During her time at Xavier, she curated the first Historically Black and College University (HBCU) Film Festival to highlight the work from University and local high school students. This experience fostered her interest in event planning, while allotting a space for Black stories that typically get limited representation.

This limited representation of Black stories, and her personal experience growing up in the south has influenced Mizani’s work. She was able to explore those stories at Northwestern University where she received an MFA in Documentary Media.

As a filmmaker, her films set out to examine the untold stories about the intersectionality of being a Black woman and the culture of the Black diaspora in America. It is important to highlight the joy in her community and not only focus on stories around poverty and the hardships of Black people.

Mizual Productions combines Mizani’s entrepreneurial background and passion for storytelling. A production company that specializes in producing creative stories and events.
